ORIGIN OF THE BATTLE OF PICHINCHA
- Today from 08:00, with military acts in the Top of Liberty and parades in the streets of the capital commemorating 188 years of the Battle of Pichincha. On the slopes of this volcano, May 24, 1822, the troops of Antonio Jose de Sucre reached Independence of Ecuador.

The Battle of Pichincha between patriots and royalists came a May 22, 1822 in the city of Quito, specifically on the slopes of the Pichincha volcano. The patriot army led by Antonio Jose de Sucre had 2,900 men while the royalist army had 300 soldiers.
The troops of General Antonio Jose de Sucre with the help of men who were part of the battalion Albion managed to beat the Spaniards in a fierce battle that seemed to be lost for the countless casualties. The battle took starring important people who will always be remembered as heroes for offering their lives in search of freedom.
